Cheesesteak Style Sloppy Joes - Azaria -

Tonawanda Oriental Girls

A delicious twist on the classic sloppy joe sandwich, inspired by the flavors of a cheesesteak. This recipe combines savory ground beef, onions, and peppers with a rich beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, all topped with gooey melted provolone cheese.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hoagie rolls, split
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions:

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef, onion, bell pepper, and garlic until beef is browned and vegetables are tender, breaking up beef with a spoon, about 8 minutes

Stir in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, salt, and pepper

Simmer until mixture thickens slightly, about 5 minutes

Preheat broiler

Place hoagie rolls on a baking sheet, cut side up

Divide beef mixture among rolls and top each with 2 slices of provolone cheese

Broil until cheese is melted and bubbly, about 2 minutes

Serve immediately, optionally with additional toppings like sliced jalapeos or pickles, if desired
